(Why Rumour?)

Rumour Has It…

So, why Rumour?

A rumour (as told by dictionary.com) is: a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts. So perhaps if you don’t know me well and you read the title of my blog you have questions as to its validity.

If you do know me well however, you’ll know that I’m a person who greatly values truth. I believe in ultimate truth. I believe that that truth is found in the Word of God. I also believe that this truth will only be seen clearly through the Holy Spirit’s revelation.

When I write to you I try my best to write Truth. Truth from the Word. Truth of how God is working in my life. Possibly just an invitation, to seek the Truth with me on something He’s yet to show me.

Oh, I suppose I’ve yet to answer your question.
Why Rumour?

The summer of 2007 was my first summer at Urban Promise Toronto. The first night in my apartment my room mates decided I needed a nickname. Out on the balcony with the sun setting they started to take apart my name.

Ruth…mary…Ru…mar…RUMOUR.

That summer it became my Urban Promise name. When I came back summer of 2008, I chose it as my camp name, only telling the kids it was short for my name, which they would have to figure out.

So. I am Rumour.

When I say “Rumour Has It”… I suppose it’s not just that old cliché.

I guess the question I hope to invoke isn’t ‘What or Who is Rumour?’ at all. More so, ‘What is it that Rumour has?’ In fact that’s the question I hope people have when they look at more then just my blog, but my life in general.

‘What is it that you have?’

I hope it’s not hard to find out. I hope I point to Him enough:

What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
 -Philippians 3:8 (NIV)

  1. Just discovered your blog, looking forward to doing some exploring. Clicked on your name in the comments section of “The Daysman”. Glad that I found it. Love your quotes page too!

    • Wow! Thanks so much for checking out my blog!

I haven’t written much lately, I’ve been having trouble trying to decide what it is I want to write about now that I’m not doing inner city missions. But I thoroughly believe that we need to serve God no matter where we are, so I decided at work today that I was going to go home and write.

I do believe you just gave me the nudge to make sure I follow through on that. 😉

      • I often have problems trying to figure out what to write/post. So I have defaulted to an old-fashioned, simple solution. . . I ask God what He wants me to say. And I know that, without a doubt, He has something important for you to say, no matter where you are serving Him. He honors those who have said: “Here am I, send me.” Looking forward to reading what that nudge produces! Blessings.
